Well, yesterday was a big one! 1 taxi, 2 planes, 3 trains and 2 buses later we arrived at Villa la Quercia in Nocelle. We started the trip at 5am and arrived at 6pm – thankfully it was still daylight. There was some colourful language from Bruce as we discovered there were many steps again which
didn’t fair well while hauling luggage. Bruce was cursing my internet findings yet again, but all was forgiven when he saw the villa and the views!! Nocelle is a tiny village perched high above Positano (2,000 steps if you feel so inclined) and the views from our B&B cover a good part of the Amalfi coast and are spectacular. The villa is a 300 year old monastary that was restored 15 years ago. More great photo opportunities.
Phil, we enjoyed our first taste of wog tucker last night – unbelievable! (Mark, Steph, Jayne & Gaz – steak Diane wasn’t on the menu – can you believe that?) However we’re not sure why you’re such a cautious driver – all your relos are maniacs! We have some great tales to tell of our bus trips. These will have to keep for later, but suffice to say the driver actually was applaused by all passengers on 2 separate occasions.
Naples was creepy – we both felt very unsafe and were extremely cautious. We were warned, but thankfully we were only passing through. We were also only passing through Rome, but first impressions (from the train) were of chaos, colours, antennas and washing. Danny, there
were no thunderstorms on the horizon at the Termini! Can’t wait to get back there for some serious rubber-necking.
Spent the morning looking around Positano and hope to get out on the water tomorrow.
