Portobello Road

LOVE this place!!  It is a real experience… Didn’t buy anything except for a little ‘Portobello Road’ calico bag for 4 pounds, just like the last time we were here, but the atmosphere, the people, the antiques and the huge range of goods for sale are all wonderful.

The buskers are crazy… this guy was standing on his head (which was in a bucket) and I felt was very deserving of my shrapnel.  A young Italian man (up-and-coming Andrea Bocelli) was singing opera – absolutely beautiful voice.  Then there was the drummer with no rhythm at all and another charming older gentleman wearing one flipper, a funny hat and miming to music with a toy guitar… crazy!  These guys only received a funny look, rather than any remuneration.

Note: The strawberries in London are the sweetest, juiciest strawberries I have tasted.

We then tried to find a pub playing the football, but much to

Matt’s disgust, failed dismally.  I would just like to add here that we have enjoyed meeting Matt’s friend and she is really lovely!

For dinner we ended up at a funky ‘Jamie Oliver’ Italian restaurant for the best food on the trip so far.  Very reasonably priced too.  Yum!!

Those strawberries look amazing, we don’t seem to get them right in Australia, the ones in Aus are so watery and lacking in flavour! So cool that you went to Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, nice to find yummy food that doesn’t cost the earth, we often found that challenging in Europe!
