We
find that the tube is a very efficient way of navigating around London, but our favourite thing to do is travel up the top and front of the buses. Not only is it a great view, but it’s a great way of getting your bearings. One of today’s excursions delivered us to Portobello Road where we enjoyed browsing through the fruit stalls, bakeries and antique shops.
My last two visits to this colourful neighbourhood resulted in the outrageous purchase of a 4 pound calico bag… I promised myself I wouldn’t buy another one this time! All we purchased were some sweet and juicy strawberries and sourdough bread.
Bruce was tempted by an old tennis racquet to add to his collection, but not quite tempted enough.
I must add at this point that the weather today was absolutely glorious. The forecast was for 9-16, but it felt much warmer. A couple of friendly Londoners picked up on our accent and suggested that we were responsible for bringing the beautiful weather with us. So we just had to have a little picnic in a park with our strawberries and some other fruit to celebrate a perfect London day.
Lots more walking and exploring, finishing with dinner at a little Italian restaurant around the corner.
Likes: Our colourful neightbourhood.
Dislikes: Our passive smoking.
Picnicking in the sun with fresh fruit and sour dough bread (that’s how its done ). Sounds perfect (minus the passive smoking of course).
Love the colourful shops!
London does parks sensationally!
Loving reading about your holidays, enjoy. Bruce you should have bought the tennis racket and shipped it home!
Thanks Phil, still may get it, always on the lookout.
Ok now I’m getting jealous!!! Being in UK with glorious weather and that’s just the start of your fabulous holiday. Glad jet lag has seemed to have done passed and gone quickly so now all there is to do is enjoy !!!! ❤️
Gayle, it’s just fabulous, we are having a ball! Can’t believe the weather, although yesterday late the strong winds turned icy, but we can’t complain. Love being in the centre of Soho, it’s such a crazy place. xx
Nice leather jackets in Portobello Road!!! Have fun…
Yes Brian, we were thinking of you and mentioned your leather jacket when we were strolling down that road too! xx
