A quote I like: “The voice of the sea talks to the soul”
I know the heading of this post seems a little selfish, but “Maui, the Sea & Us” didn’t seem to have the same ring to it. But it really has been about us. Our Hawaiian adventure so far has been truly wonderful… The beautiful sea teeming with life and colour, stunning scenery, mellow harmonious music, friendly & happy locals, exciting cultural dancing and great food.
However, having someone by your side to share it all with that happens to have the same passions and who loves the same things that you love is what makes this time so special.
We absolutely love this place!! We can’t believe it’s taken us this long to get here. About three days into this trip, we were already planning our return visit. That says it all.
Now I know I was a little obsessive about the turtles in the blog, so I promise there will be no more mention of these beautiful creatures who just look so cute when they pop their little heads out of the water to take a breath… oops, there I go again.
I mean it now, there will be no more turtle count (as it’s off the scale anyway) and Bruce suggested we start a Cocktail Count, as I’ve taken a real liking to the Mai Tai’s, so please see the end of this blog for an update.
In the words of Julie Andrews: “These are a few of our favourite things“:
- The ocean – so warm and clear – amazing shades of turquoise
- The abundant and colourful underwater sea life (… I didn’t say it)
- The Hawaiian spirit – so generous and hospitable
- The amazing weather
- The awesome sunsets
- The music and dancing (more about this in a future blog)
- The mac pancakes with butterscotch cream (only the once, I promise!)
- The POG juice (pineapple, orange, guava)
- The stunning scenic coastal drives
- The shopping, although we have not yet sampled Waikele Premium Outlets, we had some fun in the Macy’s sale!
Cocktail Count: Less than the turtle count, but working on it!
(Oh, who am I kidding, this isn’t going to work as I’m never going to admit, or remember, the true number anyway!)
