Crowds, trains, queues, hustle, bustle, buses, stairs, tunnels, escalators…. did I mention crowds? I’m not having a whinge, it’s just London. (Or maybe I’m turning into a whinging pom?)
We have been lucky so far with the cool, crisp, fine weather, however the rain joined our party on Thursday and the icy weather followed on Friday. Sounds like Sydney’s getting a taste of the same!
Anyway, the weather didn’t slow us down. It’s daylight from 6am till 8.45pm and we’re loving the long twilights – allows us to squeeze a lot more into our day – probably why we are a little weary at the end of the day!
Our friend, Brian, arrived from Switzerland on Thursday. We walked many parts of the city including Borough Market (incredible food stalls – the bread, pastries & chocolates looked amazing), ‘Tower Bridge’, and past the ‘Tower of London’ where the Guinness Book of Records for the longest drum-roll was in progress (at that stage they had reached 41 hours).
We walked past a pub called ‘Hung, drawn & quartered’ where a guy called ‘Harrison’ was, well… hung, drawn & quartered on that spot. Better keep walking Bruce…
We all enjoyed a cocktail/drink & dinner at a gay bar in Soho. Hmm, should have paid a little more attention with that one. We then set out for the Dominion Theatre as we had great tickets for the show ‘We Will Rock You’. What a fantastic show!! It closes at the end of the month after 12 years on the West End.
Looks like you are making the most of every minute! Love the look of that bread stall! So nice you could meet up with Brian!
As for the Harrison that was ‘hung, drawn and quartered’ yikes, I can’t imagine a Harrison doing anything to warrant such a punishment!
