Bicycles, boots and baguettes; buskers, beggars and beautiful b
abes (Bruce’s contribution). Bare boobs was another one from Bruce but purely in the artistic sense of course! Paris, such a crazy concoction of wonderful sights, sounds and experiences. We feel like a couple of dags though in our comfortable ‘holiday’ clothes when side by side on a daily basis with these chic Parisians. Their style is effortlessly beautiful and we have found the people to be extremely pleasant, mostly! Obviously, the old-fashioned French arrogance is history.
We are staying in the Montparnasse district and have been traveling everywhere by Metro which we have found to be a
fascinating labrynth of tunnels and a very efficient people-moving machine. We never had to wait very long as the trains arrive regularly every 3-4mins. If only Sydney had a train system like this. Today Bruce was the victim of a pick-pocket attempt – we both try to be as observant as possible and this paid of
f this morning. It was very well executed though, we were lucky to walk away with all documents, phone & wallet intact.
We have been enjoying the local pastime of coffee-sipping and people-watching, although we are finding this an expensive activity. Also doing a little people-watching in a cafe was Andy Roddick, here for the Paris Masters. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have a chat and get his autograph for Matty. He’s a sweetie!
We have spent a day in the Louvre (wonderful), did the Eiffel Tower (long queues & a little scary), visited Notre Dame, the Champs Elysees & Arc De Triomphe (wow), the Sacre Coeur, drove around the sights by night (spectacular), cruised the Seine, visited Roland Garros, walked and walked and walked….. Most days have been very cold and grey. We have really enjoyed Paris, but are looking forward to getting back to Italy for a few days before returning home.
