Sensory overload! Our only disappointment is that there is no way we can capture the spectacular surroundings with our camera or in words.
Bruce finally donned a warm jacket today for a short time. We happened to be at the top of another mountain (2700 m) and it was below zero. Not many were fearless enough to stay outdoors for too long. After about 5 minutes, I was very happy to make the most of the view with hot chocolate in hand.
Matty, we found a clay court in Klosters, but sadly no sign of Roger anywhere. Lisa, the Swiss cows are so pretty with their big brown eyes, pale brown coats and their musical bell necklaces. Ben, you’ve already had a taste of Switzerland, so you know where we’re coming from. And I haven’t even mentioned the chocolate!
Switzerland has made such an impression on us – apart from the stunning natural beauty that “slaps you in the face” (quote from lonely planet): the trains leave on the dot (which can sometimes become a problem for us); the people are mostly courteous and very efficient; everywhere is very clean and orderly; the cost of living is expensive; it seems very safe, although maybe the fact that we did see a few men with machine guns may have had something to do with the low crime rate (they still have compulsory military service); and the people are generally very fit and healthy – they are very outdoorsy, but who wouldn’t be with their outdoors!
