It just keeps getting better and better. We have a new winner in the ‘highlight of our trip’ category – Switzerland!
Our journey yesterday from Florence to Klosters involved 4 different trains, which we have previously mentioned. Miraculously, we did not miss any, but this involved a little luck.
A few hours after leaving Milan the train followed a river for a good part of the journey and the scenery took on another dimension with the Alps on either side, waterfalls every few minutes and rapids alongside the train. It was magic. And to think we were considering travelling on the night train.
We arrived in our lovely Alpine village of Klosters (1200 metres above sea-level) late afternoon and we were both quite surprised by the mild weather. We felt very special indeed once settled in our apartment – in every direction we look from the balconies there are sensational views of the Alps and we have every luxury at our fingertips. Pinch me!
We explored this adorable village today – everywhere we looked was picture-postcard perfect. From the beautiful Swiss buildings with flowers blooming everywhere and along the river walk that was recommended by Lesley – we loved it. We took the cable car to the top of the mountain and even though there is a little snow around, it was still quite a reasonable 7 degrees up the top. Again, the photos don’t do this place justice.
Barry and Carol we were thinking of you today and hope all is well. Sorry you couldn’t join us, you would have loved it here too.
